TRANSIENT ANALYSIS OF A DISCOURAGED ARRIVAL
QUEUE SUBJECT TO TOTAL CATASTROPHES,
FAILURES AND REPAIRS

Abstract. In this paper, a single server discouraged arrival queue subject to catastrophes, server failures and non-zero repair time is considered. Explicit expressions for the transient probabilities of system size are obtained using continued fractions technique. The corresponding steady state probabilities are deduced. Some important system performance measures are discussed. Further, reliability and availability of the system are analyzed.
