IMPROVING EFFICIENCY OF ROUTING TRANSPORTATION EQUIPMENT USING GENETIC ALGORITHMS
Abstract
We develop a genetic algorithm for further improving the efficiency ofequipment transportation routing and schedules compared to our heuristic algorithmbased on the Hungarian method. We investigate the impact of different approachesto setting the initial population and creating mutations. We achieve improvement of9,63% and 12,14% for the total schedule costs and empty travel time of stacking cranesbut fail to achieve tangible improvement for horizontal transportation equipment.
