ENHANCING THE SECURITY AND EFFICIENCY MIGRATION FROM WINDOWS SERVER TO LINUX SERVER: RESOURCE ANALYSIS AND BENEFITS

Abstract


This study explores the possibilities for enhancing security and ensur-ing higher availability through a change of the server’s operating system. The article ex-amines the main operating systems used for hosting .NET Core applications—WindowsServer and Linux Server. It investigates the workloads of the same .NET Core web-based application, hosted on both operating systems, and analyzes the differences inthe load on hardware components. Special attention is given to the migration processfrom Windows Server to Linux Server. The study covers both the technical details ofthe infrastructure change and the strategic advantages of using Linux as the operatingsystem to ensure the stability of e-learning systems. An original algorithm is proposed,outlining the steps for successfully migration a web-based application from WindowsServer to Linux Server.
